The Light house is a community center that serves children and needy families in the community called Serra / Cafezal, which is part of the largest community of Belo Horizonte. Our vision is to be an instrument of social, emotional, physical, spiritual and intellectual transformation in the lives of people living in the community, through mobilization, training and discipleship, that goes beyond this community, impacting Christians in Brazil and around the world .

WHAT WE DO

HOME VISITS

Our staff weekly visits the community to establish relationships with the residents; we pray and we talk more about God's love.

CHILDREN'S CLUBS

Light House holds discipleship groups for children and teenagers during the week. ( 2 boys groups and 2 girls´groups )

WATER AEROBICS CLASSES FOR WOMEN

Once a week the House offers water aerobics classes for 2 groups of women in the community.

DANCE & BALLET CLASSES

The Light House offers once a week dance classes for children/teenagers between the ages of 7-14 years old. Ballet classes takes place once every two weeks for 2 groups of children/teenagers between the ages of 7 - 14 years old.

THE SCHOOL OF ARTS

A weekly initiative for those who want to learn more about circus modalities. for 2 groups of children/teenagers between the ages of 8- 13 years old .Once a week at night, there are classes for adults too.

SCHOOL TUTORING

Once a week there is a class for those who are in need of assistance with their school homework.

DISTRIBUTION OF FOOD

Once a week the Light House distribute food packages for about 70 families who are in need of food donations.

The goal of Light House is to help individuals and families understand God's purposes for their lives.

OPPORTUNITIES

Be salt and light in the community of Serra/Cafezal.

In the Lighthouse, you can be part of team that shows people that there is a God who cares. Sharing a Bible story, doing a creative activity with a child, playing a soccer game with a group of children, teaching the word of God to a group of ladies, praying in the strategic points in the community or helping clean a house during a visit, you will watch people discover that they are not alone, not forgotten. Through prayer, teaching of the Word, a listening ear and a bit of hard work, you can show that God's people can still play a meaningful role in their life today. Come and be part of Lighthouse and put your skills to work where they will really make a difference.

There are opportunities for:

Short term international volunteers
Local residents who desire to become regular long term volunteers for an average of 6 months, who will participate in weekly programs
Those who are interested in doing the Community Development Course during the second semester
Intercessors who would like to receive our prayer requests on a bi weekly basis

You can also help by:

Providing good quality donations of food, clothing, toys, books, electronics, construction materials, cleaning products, house ware and furniture.
