OUR HISTORY

OUR HISTORY

We have been working as a base in Belo Horizonte since 1986. We began as a street team, doing evangelism and building friendships with the children on the streets, and seeking to work with their families to get the kids re-integrated. Some months after the team began working on the streets, we opened  the Rescue House, where the children could come each morning, have a shower, a hot meal, play, rest and hear the gospel, all while feeling safe. Our main aim was, and still is to get the kids back into their homes (it is the best option), but we also saw that there were cases when this was not possible, because at times this would be putting the child at even more risk than  them living on the streets.

Therefore, in 1988 we opened the Restoration House for boys from 11 to 18 years of age, who wanted to leave the streets, but could not go home. Approximately one year later, we opened a similar house for teenage girls called Recanto. The shelters served its purpose until 2010 where the ministries took on a different path , nevertheless serving the same vision of reaching out to children at risk but in a different format.

As time passed we saw other areas of need within Belo Horizonte and surrounding cities.  As the vision grew, the ministry expanded to include many other homes and projects that are reaching out to all types of children at risk. Today we have several different ministries and 3 different training courses; Discipleship Training School, Children at Risk Course and the Community Development Course.
